Short Bio

I'm a lecturer in Game Design at Abertay University – the Top International School for Game Design (Princeton Review) – where I lead the BA (Hons) Game Design and Production degree programme.
I spent 17 years working in the video games industry - mostly as a Lead Designer (12 yrs) and latterly as a Creative Lead - designing games for publishers like Activision, Sega, Microsoft, Sony, Square Enix, Curve and Zynga.
My game design work has reached hundreds of millions of players worldwide and my DCMS research contributed to the UK Parliament’s decision on Loot Box legislation.
I hold a MSc Masters Degree in Computing and Games (attained a self-directed MbR experimental research project at the intersection of game design and behavioural psychology.
I hold a Stage 11 (masters level) Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
